The next day we drove Panajachel. Lake Atitlan is the most beautiful lake in the world. We could see it is a beautiful place even through the haze of the brush burning throughout the country. It is almost the same problem that we are encountering in the Grand Canyon. We stayed in a Hotel del Lago-Barcelo. It is a brother hotel to the one in "P Street in DC". There we went shopping and did get some nice souvenirs. In the evening, Lee and Bruce went in town to few of the local nightspots (Chapiteau, Circus Bar and Blah-Blah (a techno-bar)). We did not go across Lake Atitlan for lack of time (this is something to do the next time for sure). Three volcanoes surround the lake and we could see the Santa Maria Volcano from our room with a view of the lake.
